Online Meeting To Connect Vietnamese State With Country's Overseas Student Population

An interesting use of the web in Vietnam to connect a number of government ministries and student bodies with expatriated Vietnamese students from across the globe.

An online meeting of overseas Vietnamese students has been arranged with 11 meeting points.

The meeting will have the participation of Vietnamese officials at the meeting point in Vietnam and Vietnamese students at meeting points based at the Vietnamese Embassies in Thailand, Singapore, Laos, France, Cuba, Poland, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russia, China and the Czech Republic. Overseas Vietnamese students can also join the meeting via the Internet.

This is a chance for overseas Vietnamese students to share information and learn about Vietnam’s youth policies and an opportunity to connect with young Vietnamese at home and abroad.

According to the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union’s Central Committee, three key issues will be discussed in this meeting: actual needs in connecting overseas Vietnamese students and youngsters, the role of the Youth Union and the Vietnam Students’ Association in linking global Vietnamese youngsters, initiatives to gather Vietnamese brainpower to build the country.

Officials from the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union’s Central Committee, the Vietnam Youth League, the Vietnam Student Association, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will join the meeting as dialogue guests.

Surprisingly the article fails to mention the meeting date, a pretty important detail, which is 6 June 2010.
